Personal Styling, LinkedIn and What they Have In Common.
I've been taking a masterclass from Melissa Henault on using LinkedIn more effectively. It's fantastic and I'm learning useful things I never knew about the platform - which is super exciting!
Taking this class got me thinking about an analogy to Personal Styling. LinkedIn and Personal Styling? Yes. Here it is.
If you've ever spent any time on Linkedin, you might acknowledge that it is super confusing IMHO. And if you ever signed up for Sales Navigator - forget about it, there is no way a beginner can navigate that.
But for someone trained on the platform, it's quite doable and they can even make it look easy.
But without guidance, I have no idea what I'm looking at on Linkedin. I have no idea what each tab does or how to use it. I don't know how to create an appealing profile which is extremely frustrating, and I have no idea what the rules are and therefore risk being perceived as an amateur and having no one engage with whatever I post - EEK!
And for that matter, they don't even tell you how to operate it. I guess it's "intuitive" and if you fool around with it long enough you'll figure it out. No thanks, I do not have the time or the inclination to fool around and find out about ANYTHING.
Now then, I know this is where a lot of you find yourself in the area of shopping and putting outfits together. You have no idea what to look for. Not sure what looks good on you. No idea how to create the image you want so that you stand out in an attractive way. And how about all the "fashion rules"? Like, don't wear white after Labor Day, and never mix black and brown and on and on and on... It's all so confusing you want to give up before you start.
So my point is this. Everyone has their talents and zones of expertise. At the same time, we all have areas that baffle us and that we get lost in. This is by design. You're not supposed to know everything, you get to find the person who knows what you don't and let them work their magic in their area of genius. It's a beautiful thing.
Melissa's area is maximizing business on LinkedIn. My area is creating Images of Success for men and women who want to look good but don't have the time, expertise, or patience to make that happen.
I say this to comfort you and calm you down. If you are struggling to put your look together. If you've wasted so much money on the wrong stuff it makes you sick. If you get stressed about what to wear to your events or your spouse's events, then stop struggling and reach out. You don't have to do this alone.
Just like I didn't have to learn to navigate LinkedIn alone, I got help, and now I feel super smart and empowered. You can be super stylish and put together with a closet full of outfits you love to wear. Book a Zoom Call right here on the website or on my calendar. calendly.com/morrisseystyle
